Asheville Lubricants EPP, LLC, has acquired the assets, product lines, and intellectual properties of Flame Chk Inc. Pete Whitman, the deceased founder of Flame Chk, and John Friddle, President of Asheville Lubricants planned and negotiated this acquisition before Pete’s untimely death. Pete and John believed that Asheville Lubricant was the best way to continue his business legacy.
The acquisition and transition reinforces Asheville’s current position as a dynamic distributor of the ICL Fyrol, Victawet and Phosphlex product lines.
The addition of the Flame Chk’s PINFRA based flame retardants (APP and Nitrogen) will be very complimentary to the Paint, Plastic and Textile industries we serve. We are excited about the potential for growth in both the immediate future and for the coming years.
Asheville Lubricants and Flame Chk have separately been great leaders providing expertise and products to fit their customer’s needs. Pete Whitman was truly a beloved supplier and friend to many in the Industry. It is the hope and goal to honor Pete’s memory by treating every potential customer as a friend who needs our assistance.

The Managing Partners of Asheville Lubricants Corp, have created Asheville Lubricants EPP, LLC to continue to serve, and also to provide enhanced services, to its customers. The new LLC will continue to offer the same producs, and continue to serve the same industries that Steve Woolard and Asheville Lubricants have since 1984.
John Friddle, has acquired majority ownership and will operate Asheville Lubricants EPP from the Calhoun location. Steve Woolard, Asheville Lubricants founder, will continue to lend his experience and expertise, as Chairman Emeritus.
John Friddle stated, “I look forward to this new Venture and all the possibilities it presents. Steve has established a chemical distributorship that understands customers and their specific needs. I consider it an honor and a privilege to carry on his legacy.”
Asheville Lubricants is widely respected for its expertise and strong ethical business practices that value the customer supplier relationship. The new venture will move forward building on the strengths of Company.
